Meeting Jesus
Christianity brings good news, which is the meaning of the word “Gospel.” The best news of all time is that we can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Perhaps the simplest invitation to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is found in John 1:12: “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” This awesome privilege of becoming a child of God is further described in Romans 10:9: “That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you’ve never taken that step to “confess with your mouth” your belief that Jesus is the Lord that God raised from the dead… and would like to… you can take that opportunity this very moment to receive Him as your Lord today. You may want to pray a prayer like this:
Lord Jesus, I recognize that I need You in my life. I thank You that You died for me and that You rose from the dead, and I receive You as my Lord today. Come into my life, cleanse me from my sin, and help me to live for You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you’ve prayed this prayer, you are encouraged to tell someone about your decision, for as Jesus promised in Matthew 10:32, “Whoever acknowledges Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven.”
Your friends at First Missionary would love to help you grow in your relationship with Christ. Please let us know if you’ve prayed that prayer for the very first time!
