The ROCK
Several years ago First Missionary Church was instrumental in launching a new church in Portland, Indiana, The ROCK. The ROCK is an alive, energetic, multiplying church where people will be introduced to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Under the leadership of Pastor Jeff Horsman, The ROCK is a church with a casual environment living out a serious faith. At the end of January, Pastor Jeff had this exciting story to share…
In our children’s church, we have been teaching what salvation means. It was a month-long series for our kids. On the last day of the series, one of our layman shared “the wordless book” with the kids, sharing the gospel using colors. Before service began, we told the whole congregation what was going on and to send any “stragglers” to children’s church.
We had about 15 other adults in the area to be a support to the man who was teaching. At the end of the lesson, he asked if any of the kids wanted to accept Jesus as their Savior. He told them that the other adults were there to help them and pray individually with them.
The good news is that we needed every one of the adults to help. We had 39 kids pray to give their hearts to Jesus!
It was about ¾ through the service, and the teacher sent his son to tell me what had happened. I was in the middle of the sermon, but when he came out of the kids area, I took a break and got the announcement and shared it with the congregation. We then had a standing ovation for the kids! It was awesome.
Then I continued with my message, and also made a call to commit your life to Christ. I then had 10 adults commit to Jesus! It was an awesome day!
God is doing amazing things at The ROCK!
